## Why vinyl plank installation

- **Waterproof core.** Spills, wet feet and humidity do not swell a rigid vinyl core the way they swell wood-based floors.
- **Quiet underfoot.** Most of our SPC collections come with an attached pad that softens footsteps.
- **Quick to install.** Click-lock planks float over a flat slab, so most rooms are finished quickly.

## How it works

1. **Tell us about the job.** Send your rooms and the floor you like, or call us.
2. **We measure and check.** Every room measured, the slab or subfloor checked.
3. **You get it in writing.** Material, prep, labor, trims and delivery on one estimate.
4. **We confirm and install.** Stock confirmed first, then your installation date is booked.

## Questions

### Is vinyl plank really waterproof?

The planks themselves are. A rigid SPC core does not swell with water. Standing water can still get under the floor at the edges, so spills should be wiped up.

### Can vinyl plank go over my existing tile?

Often yes, if the tile is flat, sound and the grout lines are not too deep. We check the floor before we price and put any preparation on the estimate.

### What is the difference between SPC and LVP?

Both are vinyl plank. SPC has a rigid stone-plastic core that resists denting and temperature changes; many softer LVP floors have a flexible core.

### Which wear layer do I need?

12 mil suits bedrooms and rentals, 20 to 22 mil suits busy family homes, and 30 mil suits the heaviest wear. Every collection in our catalogue lists its wear layer.

### How do I get a price?

Request an estimate online or call us. We measure, check the slab and send a written, itemised estimate.

## Guides

- [A buyer's guide to vinyl plank](https://scflooringmasters.com/answers/vinyl-plank-buying-guide.md): Vinyl plank is now the most popular floor in Central Florida homes. Here is what to look for, how it is installed and how to keep it looking good.
- [Vinyl plank vs tile: which is better for your home?](https://scflooringmasters.com/answers/vinyl-plank-vs-tile.md): Neither wins everywhere. Vinyl plank is warmer, quieter and faster to lay, while porcelain tile lasts longer and shrugs off heat, sand and pool water. The right pick depends on the room.
- [Vinyl plank vs laminate: which should you choose?](https://scflooringmasters.com/answers/vinyl-plank-vs-laminate.md): For most Central Florida homes on concrete slabs, vinyl plank is the safer choice because its core does not absorb water. Laminate can suit dry rooms but reacts badly to moisture.
- [SPC vs WPC vs LVP: what is the difference?](https://scflooringmasters.com/answers/spc-vs-wpc-vs-lvp.md): LVP is the general name for vinyl plank. SPC and WPC are two types of rigid core: SPC is dense stone and PVC, while WPC is a lighter foamed core that feels softer.
- [Vinyl plank wear layer explained](https://scflooringmasters.com/answers/wear-layer-explained.md): The wear layer is the clear film on top of vinyl plank that takes foot traffic. For most family homes, 20–22 mil is a sound choice; 12 mil suits light use and 30 mil suits heavy wear.
- [Condo flooring sound rules in Florida](https://scflooringmasters.com/answers/condo-flooring-sound-rules.md): Florida's building code sets a minimum sound rating for floors between units, and most condo associations add their own, stricter rules. Get written approval before you order a hard floor.
